Pinks and Turquoise.

A stolen moment for quiet reading with a glass of wine. Finding inspiration in magazines and colors around me.

Carnival Time

We took Dylan to a fair by our house a couple of weeks ago. I love the acidic bright colors that have been muted by much time out in the sun. Something very sad and lonely about it all.

Highlights from the Cape

Dylan and I returned last week from our 4 week adventure on the east coast. We managed to have Erik meet us there in the beginning and then at the end again. There were boat rides, lobster feasts, never ending swim days, many ice creams, a farm trips, Ferry rides, brand new nephew meetings, I could go on and on...we ended the trip with a weekend in the Catskills where Erik and I attended one of the most beautiful, touching, fun fun fun weddings! I feel refreshed, happy and so full of love!

Muted Tones

Some beautiful soft pink and mints for your Wednesday morning. All images via Pinterest. Today will be a painting day. I received my latest issue of Anthology Magazine yesterday and this one is centered on art and artists. So inspiring to read- a perfect midweek pick-up. I have to admit I've been struggling a bit with my time off...I feel like I should be doing something, but I'm not sure exactly what... so instead of relaxing, or even doing anything, I'm thinking of what I am not or should be doing. Yes, it's incredibly silly... so today I'll focus on doing and not thinking!

Color Brights for a Tuesday

Katherine and I have started a Pinterest page here. It's full of bright colors, inspiring baby rooms, children's graphics, stylish tots, and fun prints. It's been such fun gathering inspiration. I have my other Pinterest page (see the button up top) but I'm finding these kid centered searches to be much more inspiring. How can the color above not make you smile? Or if anything, picturing some chubby toddler arms and legs poking out of the Baby Gap swimsuit...

Things We Love

I bought Kate Spade's book 'Things We Love'. It was one of those coffee table books that you don't want to end. In fact, I read it very slowly while sitting outside in a wine bar... it was a perfect afternoon. The fabulous colors and images are candy for your eyes. Lovely lovely lovely.

The 4th in Sonoma

We had a lovely time up in Sonoma celebrating the 4th of July. We got up early to get there for the morning parade. Dylan wasn't sure what to make of it all until the fire engines showed up...he wasn't disappointed... It's funny, growing up in a small town I couldn't wait to get out. Now, all I want to do is go back...

Getting ready!

We are going to Sonoma for a FABULOUS trip... so I'm picking my favorite colors.... and even Dylan thinks my nails are the most perfect costume for the day...

Chevron Crossing

I recently redid our front porch. We are eventually going to overhaul the whole thing, but for now I thought I'd put a temporary band-aid on it by painting the concrete and assembling some Adirondack chairs. And, well, that's what it looks like... the cement paint that I bought thinking it was a soft neutral-y terracota is more of a pink band-aid color. I was hoping Erik wouldn't notice, but as soon as he got home, little Dylan pointed to it and said "pink!". However, he calls every color pink, so I'm going to gloss over that comment...

Minty Fresh

It's been incredibly hot here this week. I'm trying to get inspired by the colors around me and it's interesting when you stop to take a look you realize what you are drawn toward. Mints today, pinks tomorrow.

Back....again.... for real this time.

I did it. I made the leap and quit my full time job in corporate fashion. It was so odd, like a dream. I had been thinking of it for a long time and then all of a sudden I woke up on a tuesday, had my coffee and the next thing you know the words "I've made the decision to leave the company" were coming out of my mouth like water rushing out of a broken dam. It was bittersweet. I had been with the company for a long time but the commute (about an hour and half each way), the long hours and the time away from my 2 year old lead me to get burnt out. I felt like this:
Any spark of creativity that once was inside me had slowly but surely been blown out. I was doing a lot- and doing it all not very well. I had to end something and that something was my job. I realized it was time for a break before i fizzled out. Am I excited? You bet. Am I freaking out? Of course. But I suppose every great new adventure has to start somewhere. So here we go... it's good to be back here. xoxo zoe

Feeling Fall

While it never gets too cold here, I can still enjoy a nice coat and of course some elbow length gloves, which I will continue with this fall... I think each of these jackets and coats would be fall-fabulous... All from Anthropologie.

I love these Cambridge Satchels available from J Crew. However, it's a little hard to think about fall fun and brightly colored satchels filled with newly sharpened pencils ready for the first day of school as it's October and 90 degrees here...Well, I'm quite all right with Summer Round 2...

Set Sail!

After a long break from here, I'm back. I now have a cuter than imaginable little 11 week boy that goes perfectly with my turquoise heels...he other the other hand may not share my love of shoes...I can't even keep socks on those pudgy feet, let alone the adorable knit slippers from Baby Gap. Ah well.... He and I are flying to the east coast in an week and a half for some fun family time on the cape. We are both very excited to pack our favorite nautical wear. This dress would be perfect for a leisurely jaunt on a giant sailboat...available here.

Comfort. Shoes.

I think that in my head 'comfort shoes' are anything that isn't a high heel, or, well, nice to look at. However, being 9 months pregnant and still keeping up my daily walks, I've realized that a flat flip flop is not going to cut it. So I got myself over to the comfort shoe store near my house and found these lovelies. And apparently I'm late to get on the 'grannie' band wagon. They had an article taped up from NY daily news about how everyone is wearing these now... in fact, these ones above are available at Urban Outfitters (?!) I bought a black pair of the German Worishofers and my feet are so happy that I called up my little store and ordered them in red as well. I figure buy shoes now before I'm too busy changing diapers and not sleeping. So even if I look like an elephant with swollen ankles and wider feet, I'm at the point where I don't care because my feet are so flipping comfortable. Love.

The Bigger, the Better

I keep seeing beautiful skirts and dresses ready for spring that unfortunately belong on people who have waists. Seeing as mine is gone for now and will be getting even bigger in the next 3 months, I can simply stare longingly. However there are some things that one needs and maternity shops are not cutting it for me. Enter Forever 21. Clothes that are cheap enough for now only, but also fun, and, luckily for me, swing-y and A-line. I love these 2 coats which I would (and will) wear after the wee one arrives. My winter coat was getting too close for comfort, but these coats are perfect and have even more room for me to grow. Plus my crush on 3/4 length sleeves and long gloves can be united. Love.

Bags and Bags

I'm falling in love with too many of the bags at Anthropologie. It's been a bit cold here lately, so a charge of color would be a nice pick me up. I'm also looking at each bag with new eyes...perhaps it would work as a diaper bag, so maybe I need it?? hmm....

Holiday Sparkle

This time of year always flies by, I have to make sure I don't blink and miss it all. So, in case I do, I'll make sure my feet look fabulous....These Alexander McQueen lovelies are marvelous....
However, I'm due to have a little munchkin in April, and with my balance off, aching feet and back, I should stick with these Kate Spade flats... equally as fantastic...
