Tables and Tents

I have gotten a lot of major wedding planning done (place, caterer, dress, tent...) so now it's time for the fun stuff. I'm planning on having everything organized, ordered and bought before I fly back in July, so that I can then use that time to get right in there and have fun. I've been looking at table arrangement ideas, and inside tent decorations....

It can be overwhelming, so I'm taking it slow....very slow...I'm a tortoise...

Wedding Update

While I was home, I got my dress!! I'm very excited to have that out of the way. I originally had an idea in my head and wanted to find a dressmaker, but it all seemed so complicated that I went to the first bridal store I found, tried on 4 dresses (all of which I would have been happy with) and picked one. I think that, for me, the dress isn't a big deal... I didn't need to find "the one". Instead, I'm focusing on what fun shoes I'll wear. Also, Erik and are thinking of having a big party/reception 2 weeks after, in California for anyone who can't make it. We're thinking maybe on the beach? At a winerie? Still thinking... but a fun idea... We're even thinking of having our honeymoon in California. I mean, We live in such a beautiful place here, and are close to many places to travel, that a trip to California makes a lot of sense moneywise and travel wise....again, we'll see.....

Saving the Dates

I've been working on ideas for the Save the Dates this afternoon. I'm really missing a big monitor and wacom. But i'm not complaining, I love my little lap top. In the background the tv is playing E! True Hollywood Story: Three's Company....so intense... I'm totally sucked in, yet at the same time trying to pretend i'm not. This results in typos and not getting much done. But i can't turn the television off. I can't. not just yet. I'm about to learn how terry and cindy came to replace chrissie, and quite honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if a few tears came out on this one....it's been known to happen...

Minty Pink

I have a feeling that I'm going to keep finding color combinations that I love...too many choices. Although deep down I'm probably going to go with the Indian pink and golds since I've been thinking of that forever...
all photos from here, cake from Miette, which I am majorly missing.

Flowers

I love these colors together and the idea of using vintage tins as vases. I'm thinking of doing something similar... both images from here.

Theme #1

I have 2 color ideas in my head for the wedding. This one is aqua and orange not overkill, just maybe pops of color....

Vintage Inspired

These are some fun pieces I found from here. I still have no idea of where to start, or what to do.... I suppose I should think of what colors I'd like to use and move from there? I do wish I were home and could discuss with friends and family.... ah well, 3 more weeks! I think that planning a wedding from across the world will be very, ahem, interesting, indeed.....One would think that not working would be the best time ever to do this, and i completely agree... however.... when you have no supplies, can't call the US for long periods of time because it's so expensive, can't meet with people or see places... Perhaps, I'm not seeing the adventurous side of this, I'm sure it will be great fun...assuming I can pull it off...ha!

More wedding fun

When I'm home this summer I'd like to have a fun brunch in Woods Hole for the bridesmaids and my girl friends. Fun foods, drinks and flowers. With great shoes thrown in, of course. All images from Brides.com.

Lantern Love

I discovered The Lantern Store via Something Old Something New. These are EXACTLY what I have been looking for!!! perfect! I would like the whole back yard filled with these for the wedding. Now we are thinking we should go with 8/8/08. Is it weird to have a Friday wedding? Or is it fun, because then you get Saturday night as well...hmmm.

Cakes

There is a section in People online with cakes from every state. Very fun to look at. I love looking at wedding cakes. I can't say I always love the taste of them though. However, we recently went to a wedding in Greenwich, CT and I have to say the cake ( as well as the food) was absolutely amazing.

Elle Decoration

I broke down yesterday and bought the latest British Elle Decoration. If you think it's expensive in the states... weee hooo don't buy it here... but I did. and it was SO worth it. I even caught Erik reading it. Everything in the magazine was so inspiring, and fantastical. These are some photos of a piece they did on outdoor summer entertaining. These are also great inspirations for wedding planning. We are going to rent a big house for a week, and anyone who wants to be there with us for the time before is welcome to. The wedding will be in the backyard, very informal, lots of lights, music, family and friends. I just read the novel, A Spot of Bother, and there was this one line where the bride is flustered that this is her day and everyone will ruin it and the groom says something to the effect of, This day is for our families, we have the rest of our lives for us. And I agree with that; I want our wedding to be an amazing time for family and friends. and well, they better like an outdoor party... hee.

Pretty things to keep my mind off of the long flight...

I can't believe how quickly the last few days have gone by. We're in the city now and will be going to south this afternoon. We then check into a hotel by the airport and that's it! It's strange because the last few days we've been surrounded by so many great people, and when we move I'll be all alone! So perhaps I'll throw myself into wedding planning. We finally picked a date, August 9th 2008. I'd like to have a dress that isn't a traditional wedding dress, although I have been known to change my mind, we'll see. There are 2 great blogs that i have been reading for wedding inspiration. this one and and this one .
