Inspirations for a good night sleep

Here are some beautiful photos from Marie Claire Idees. See, if we got the house with the yard, I could create lovely lovely tea parties outside with fairy lights and hanging lamps and wonderful colored glasses. and wine and cheese, of course. There is a new issue out now... I wonder if I can find it here. So far not much luck with my magazine hunt, but I'm not giving up yet. Oh no... not yet.

Blues, Yellows, and seashells

We looked at a few apartments today. Very interesting to see a broad spectrum.
The first place I fell in love with. I had originally set my mind on a not as fancy shmancy a place, so this place threw me for a loop, i felt like gollum seeing the ring... I NEEDED this apartment. but after i calmed down I remembered what I really wanted without the sparkle of a marble entryway with doorman. I think if we're here for a short time it would be more interesting to be in a real Israeli neighborhood and this place was not. It was more geared toward diplomats and foreigners visiting who wanted to be around more touristy areas.

We drove near the beach and saw this tiny house that is supposedly very cheap, with a huge yard. A complete mess of weeds and brambles.

It needs a lot of work... the kind of work someone with no job could do! and it was a cute neighborhood. I kept thinking of Santa Cruz. So we'll see.

Now I'll end my day relaxing and thinking of shoes...

Here are some photos of the apartment we are staying in for the next month and a half. It's very nice, although I don't know if it's the type of place we're looking for. We would rather pay less, and have more of a fixer-upper. We're going to look at a few places today, so hopefully we'll find something.

what. a. day.

Again, another day when I couldn't sleep past 6. So i'm up. Yesterday, I got up at 6, and spent almost an hour trying to get the internet. After failing miserably, I went for a walk. There is a path by our place that a lot of people run and walk down and is right by the ocean, so there is a nice breeze. But hee... some of people here run in speedos. yes, I'm serious. Better, um, support? Well, it kept the walk, ahem, interesting.

After that I went and had a coffee, by this time it was only 10.... I thought what will I do today??
but then i went into the mall. I have never seen so many amazing shoes... I was completely blown away. I'll go back and try to take some photos and find out more. Some, I think, were Spanish brands. But all were so creative and interesting. i may have to get my hands on some. Research! After that I went grocery shopping, which was interesting since everything is written in Hebrew. I had to make a few guesses as to what certain things were. I think that once I learn Hebrew, things will be a lot easier. I mean, when you see a sign on a door with a huge X sign, wouldn't you think you weren't allowed to go through? So i tried to ask someone if i could use the door and I think she thought I was asking her to open it for me. Oh well. It is very humbling to live somewhere new and not know anything and have to try and figure it out yourself. You should have seen my trying to figure out the washing machine. I then got back and decided to go to the gym, but of course it was closed because it has funny hours. argh! so i decided to go on a long run at the hottest time of the day. But i did feel much better after some excerise. After that I had to go back to the store ( i'm sure, like Borders Books, these people will just have to get used to seeing my face) because i realized I didn't have salt, or pepper, or balsamic vinegar. Couldn't seem to find any pepper... and felt like an hour was enough for staring at the funny boxes on aisle 2. I then slept and by then Erik was home and I made my first dinner. A, um, salad. I least I know what lettuce is without a lable. Right?

we're here!!

We got in last night, I was So tired, even MTV couldn't keep me up. We are staying in a temporary apartment while we look for a real one. This one is pretty nice, apparently it is the Beverly Hills of this area. woo hoo.

We had dinner outside at a restaurant near the apartment.

Here is a view from our living room at 5 this morning, I couldn't get back to sleep. More tomorrrow morning of my adventures that I had today!

Pretty things to keep my mind off of the long flight...

I can't believe how quickly the last few days have gone by. We're in the city now and will be going to south this afternoon. We then check into a hotel by the airport and that's it! It's strange because the last few days we've been surrounded by so many great people, and when we move I'll be all alone! So perhaps I'll throw myself into wedding planning. We finally picked a date, August 9th 2008. I'd like to have a dress that isn't a traditional wedding dress, although I have been known to change my mind, we'll see. There are 2 great blogs that i have been reading for wedding inspiration. this one and and this one .

yes please!

I am very exicted because i found that London is about a 4 hour flight from Israel. My grandmother, Giggi, lives there, so i will be making many a trip. and it doesn't hurt that the best shopping is over there. What does hurt is the exchange rate. ouch. but i would be loving these.

Today we're going to drive down to Los Gatos. Erik's co workers are giving him a going away party. I'm excited because we're staying in a hotel with a pool and i have a ton of magazines to read. we'll then head back to the city for saturday and sunday. hurray!! i got up at 7 this morning and went out to get breakfast and coffee. it's funny because when you're working you have no concept of what day it is. So i was thinking, huh starbucks gets pretty crowded, and then i realized that there were working people! so I pretended to be one. i tried to look busy and very preoccupied as i ordered my soy latte. hee
