One Year Ago...

Can you believe it... one year since we left Israel and moved back to the US. It makes me sad that that as time goes by, my life there moves further and further away from me. However, our friends that we made will be visiting us in September. Oh Hurray.
I think that I sometimes have to look at photos to remind me that we were actually there. I pretty much picked up here in the US where I left off. I'm back working at the same place (although I love it now), we're back in the bay area (although a weee bit further giving me a longer commute. Bright side! Bright side! I can read all of my books and magazines) We are reconnected with our wonderful family of friends that we have here. And actually, I think, that being away from people makes you realize how lucky you are to have them. We have had some of my most favorite times with them since we've moved back. Erik and I have decided that we will do another international experience within the next 5 years, which will be perfect. But, for now, I am completely happy exactly where I am.

Dear Zoe,
I'm sure you're tearing your hair out right now wondering why anyone invented High School, when you'd much rather be thrown out of an airplane, dragged behind a car over smashed glass, or forced to watch a marathon of 'Saved By the Bell: The College Years.' But let me give you some advice... hang on to all of those Dr Martens boots. Pluleeaaze.... because 17 years later, you'll wish you had them and make Sheila go searching through your closet at home in Connecticut to see if you do. And if you don't, then you'll have to buy these. Actually, scrap that. We want these regardless.... sigh...

Well, I never.. It IS true...

HA! What do you know... it IS possible to buy amazing boots that look great and are actually waterproof snow boots available at places like REI (which I'm usually lost in- mentally and physically). Our new graphic designer just moved here from the south and wasn't expecting all of this rain (none of us were expecting this much...) and as she rides her bike to work (lucky duck... no hour commute for her...) she needed a way to stay dry. She went to REI last night and bought these a-damn-dorable Merrell boots, which are also available here. I think that they are the perfect way of saying.. Yes.. yes, i do go hiking and perhaps don a fleece now and then to build an igloo, but hey, I work in fashion so HA!

Rain, rain, rain, rain...

No, really, that's all it's been doing. I have nothing else on my mind except that non stop sound of rain running down the gutter... I think I may be going mad. Wellies, wellies, everywhere, nor any heel to wear....

Erik has left for China today and will be gone for a week. So I decided to wear my new turban, watch tons of movies, drink champagne, and play with the cats all day. Seriously. That's all I did. It was fabulous.

I heart Amazon so. It's a wee bit too easy for me to order things online...and being someone who loves to get mail, a package only a couple of days after ordering is fantastical. Today I received The Wizard of Oz. And oh my goshelles.... apparently it's a special edition with sing a long. Wee woo... thankfully Erik has to travel for work this week; he is definitely not a fan. And really not a fan of me singing along with films. When my car stereo broke, I created an Only Julie Andrews Rule while riding in the car. With this rule, one could only sing songs from The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Erik would not ride in the car with me. Anyway, I shall be watching the Wizard of Oz, and I would like these shoes to wear while watching, and definitely wearing them with light blue socks.

Lounge Like You Mean It...

So, I was browsing the Anthropologie website last night for work inspirations, and saw this adorable hat!! Can you imagine having Peter Rabbit on your head!? I think I see a hat making project in my future... So, the reason I even found the hat, was because this turban caught my eye.

At first, looking at the thumbnail, I was like, Oh interesting, then I opened the larger image and gasped at the ugly sight... but yet, I couldn't take my eyes off... Then I remembered how I had wanted a turban a la 'old-hollywood-movie-star' last summer to wear while lounging around the pool. I then came across these on Amazon.

Whew... what a find... Poor Erik was sitting next to me at the kitchen table trying to get work done as I kept flipping my laptop around, "No, but, seriously, look at this one! My oh my, imagine wearing that!?" I am now eagerly awaiting the arrival of my brand new bright turquoise turban which I shall wear fabulously...
