Brilliant Blues

There's an underlying current of excitement running around here today; we are beginning to research houses to see this weekend. While the next few weeks and months will be busy ones, I'm hoping that they will be full of happy giddiness and not too much disappointment. During my flight last night, the attendant asked if I was flying home and it suddenly struck me in the most marvelous way, that Yes- Yes I was flying home. After so long abroad, and 2 months in limbo, it's a fantastically satisfying feeling to know that I am home now. Yesterday was the first time in a while that I left the east coast to go home and wasn't gearing up for a 12 hour flight or a place so far away from friends and family. And for now, I really liked that.

Back West

I'm off this morning for a day long trip back to California. I had a wonderful trip home and am so excited to fly to my new home (eek!). Back tomorrow!

Fun at the Farm

Yesterday Sheila and I stopped into the Dudley Farm where we saw the new little lambs. I got extra excited when I saw all of the animals...Sheila responded with a "Well yes, Zoe, this IS a farm..." hmmm


So in some exciting news, we found out yesterday afternoon that we will be staying in the Bay Area!!! Very exciting indeed. This weekend will be spent looking for a house and car. Finally we can put down some roots!!!

NPR and Strong Coffee

There are 2 things that always remind me of home and that is strong coffee (sheila somehow always makes it waaay strong) and NPR. At least 2 radios are on at all times in the house, blasting the warbling tones of Diane Rehm...
I hope you all had perfect weekends, mine was so marvelous. I hadn't been back to the cape since our wedding, so it was awfully nice to be back. The weather was absolutely perfect, it felt like July. The bachelorette party was incredibly fun (and not at all crazy); it was a gambling party, so 2 dealers and tables had been rented. I stayed with the craps table all night in order to try to learn one game and stick with it. I also just liked saying 'craps'. hee. Today I think may be the day that Erik and I find out where we're moving...let's hope I have some news soon...

The sun is shining here today...as well as many other parts of the east coast. Very exciting... We're off to Cape Cod this evening for a fun girl weekend full of bachelorette parties, food, sun, and friends. Above you can see my wonderful-underful new chandelier, and also some pansies that seem to be in everyone's garden at this time of the year. Have a great weekend! Back East

I arrived to Connecticut yesterday morning, so I've been a bit out of the loop (darn red eye flight...). I didn't bring my computer home, but will try to stay up with these posts. For now, I leave you with a photo of my munchkin aliens, Mingus and Monk. As soon as Erik and I are settled they are moving in with us...It will be a lovely household of us, the cats, and all 2 tons of their fur...ahem.

P.S. Yesterday found the most fabulous vintage metal flowered chandelier... we are wicked excited.

As I've said before...Let's bring back the hat...

Last night, Erik and I watched Changeling. It was a great movie and storyline, but I was obsessed with the costumes. Angelina Jolie wore the most fabulous hats, drop-waisted dresses, small clutches... loved, loved, loved.... I'm reading a Dorothy Sayers mystery at the moment which are also set around the same era. Today I'd like to put on a cloche hat, a tunic dress and a fur collared coat. We'll see how that works out in this 80 degree weather...

Monday, sun day

Hello Monday! We had a perfect weekend with friends, sun, and a ton of pool time. Today I'm getting ready for my trip back back east. I'm flying to Ct tomorrow night to see family and have a fun girl weekend on the cape, very very exciting. Right now I'm hoping someone will bring me downtown to get a burrito... we'll see how that goes...

I Know, who AM I??

So, I stopped in Macys yesterday after my long walk into town to see if there was anything interesting to use the rest of my gift certificate on. My feet were killing me...I was wearing summer sandal-y things with NO support at all, completely flat leather (which are also falling apart). I don't have a car here and have been walking everywhere. I'm enjoying this, don't get me wrong, but as the weather gets warmer, one doesn't want to wear socks and sneakers. So I did something I've never done before...I walked into the 'comfort' shoe section. Hmmm I thought....some of these are kinda cute. I tried on this pair of Born sandals and Oh My Goshelles... my feet felt as though they were sitting on a pillow being fanned by a palm leaf, and I swear if they could eat, were being fed grapes.
So I used my gift card on them. While they may not be fun heels in a fun print or color, I think they will save me. Long Live Comfort Shoes! (at least for now...)

Have a marvelous weekend!! We have fun plans to see some friends in San Jose (I'm making tequila lime jello shooters -recipe from Sunset magazine- we'll see how they turn out) and relax in the sun (80 degrees!?). Now, however, I've got to prepare myself for a trip to the dentist for 2 fillings to be re-drilled and filled. I almost wrote 're-drilled and frilled'. And for some reason that sounds better to me...

*yeah yeah, i know I've posted this photo before...but I love it, and those shoes are still in storage until we find a place to settle down. Boo.

We're Back!

We got back late yesterday from our amazing trip up north. More photos to come soon...I need to recuperate... I've had enough wine tasting to last me a while. The only thing I can stand to drink now is water. lots of it.

Have a great weekend! Erik and I are driving up to Napa (we've never been) for a fun long weekend. We're going on a hot air balloon ride tomorrow, which I am so excited for and then seeing friends in Sonoma on Sunday. I'll be back on Tuesday with some colorful photos.

Fancies for your Neck

Inspired by the jewelry I've seen around, and uninspired by the lack of jobs out there, I've been splitting my mornings searching for jobs and making jewelry. I find that I constantly need to create in order to feel mentally balanced. It's been a bit difficult here in temporary housing with all of my art supplies in storage, but I've been managing with a few beads, a sketch pad, and colored pencils. The gloominess and rain today is the perfect excuse to stay in and create.

Angel Island

Some highlights from the weekend. Next time we go, I'm going to make sure I'm in perfect shape...I may or may not have acted like a weenie and told everyone to go ahead of me to the top because I was feeling lightheaded...luckily Erik saw through my act and told me to hoof it to the top. I did, and was happily rewarded with an amazing view. And lots of chocolate trail mix... (you have to hike with trail mix, otherwise you're simply walking up a hill, not hiking.)

Darks and Lights

Hello Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. We had a great hike on Angel Island with some friends of ours on Saturday. It was so amazingly beautiful. This whole area is wonderful, I'm really hoping that we stay. I feel like since we've been back here after Israel, I'm appreciating the bay area a lot more. But, today I'm trying really hard to ignore the sunshine outside and keep my eyes on my laptop looking for a job. And let me tell you, boy is it fun.

Brightest Brights

Happy Friday!! Can you believe these flowers? I saw them up at Byington Winery earlier this week. The color was amazing, almost unreal, ultra-violet looking. I'm feeling much better today. I got a great pick-me-up email from Susie and realized that everything, or course, will turn out wonderfully. Have a wonderful weekend full of lovely thoughts and pick-me-up talks from friends!

Polka Dots

Happy Thursday!! I have to admit, I'm a little down today (but I'm sure a walk outside in the sun will erase it) Watching the news (usually depressing) not knowing where we're moving, needing to find a job (but not even sure which state we'll move to). Blah, it's enough to get you down to the point where even staring at your favorite shoes won't bring you back. Hmph. This is probably where being active helps. Erik and I are planning on doing a big hike this weekend (perhaps Angel Island?). I'm sorry if this post seems down, I try not to get mopey here, but I couldn't think of anything else! Ah, but tomorrow is Friday!

Sorry about that lapse in posting, I've had my friend Craig from New York visiting. We've been eating a lot, drinking a lot of wine, and eating a lot... So starting today, I'm on a health diet. More to come this afternoon!
