Holiday Sparkle

This time of year always flies by, I have to make sure I don't blink and miss it all. So, in case I do, I'll make sure my feet look fabulous....These Alexander McQueen lovelies are marvelous....
However, I'm due to have a little munchkin in April, and with my balance off, aching feet and back, I should stick with these Kate Spade flats... equally as fantastic...

All available at Zappos.

For The Wee Ones

Stella McCartney Kids is absolutely adorable and perfect in every way. I love the colors, styles, all of it. There was a lovely article about her country house in this months Vogue. I imagine her and her children running around the fields dressed as wonderfully fun as this.

Acting Up

I'm kind of liking this new bit on the Anthropologie website. There are mini 'movies' of a model in some of the outfits in places such as a cafe, bookstore, bakery, etc.

It's interesting to see the clothes moving and not just on a hanger or a still photo on a model online. I give it an A+.

New! Shoes!

I got these shoes in the mail last week and have already worn them 3 times. I'm crushing on them that much. I bought them for a wedding that I'm in this September. They not only fit the specifications of the bride, (something neutral) but are also incredibly comfortable (as Clarks usually are) and also terribly cute. The shoes and I are totally going steady now.
Available, among many other places, here .

Treats to Eat and for your Feet

The latest Anthropologie catalog was shot in England. It's lovely. My whole family is going out the first week in September for a wedding and we are bubbling over with excitement. I love the photo above with my favorite English foods- Marmite, pickled onions, baked beans.... all surrounding a perfect bag. Marvelous boots on liquorice allsorts... Have they been spying on my dreams? Many a picked onion shall be eaten by me in a few weeks. Can. not. wait.

Country time for Tailgaiting

I'm kind of loving the new fall ad campaign for Tommy Hilfiger. It's all about tailgating, but for me, it reminds me of trips to the English countryside as a child. When we were younger we'd often spend large parts of the summer in England visiting relatives. We'd take trips to with my grandparents to fetes and air shows.

My brother and I would sit on a plaid wool blanket taken from the boot of the car clutching our tube of polo mints while we watched, wide eyed, the planes soaring overhead. Love.

Coats for Weather like This

After 10 days in the wonderfully warm east coast, I arrived home to cold weather in the 50's. In August. hmmm. I would not kick either of these adorable coats out of bed for eating crackers. Both from Lily & Jae. Yes please.

We heart Summer!!

I don't know about you, but I've been having the best summer. Last weekend we went camping up north with a big bunch of friends for an electronic music festival. ( i know... I was shocked too) This weekend we will continue to don the tool belts and work on the backyard.... it's getting there.... I've become the chief plant waterer- This is incredible for someone who used to water the plants only once they died. We are making progress...

Turquoise with Yellow Pops*

I love these Marc Jacobs handbags, available here. I'm ready for summer. In San francisco it's been freezing and foggy. But as my train home gets closer and closer to my house, I'm greeted with sun and 85 degree weather. Oh south bay, how I love you but hate how far you are from work....

This weekend we are building an out door kitchen. That should be interesting... I'm going to fashion everyone tool belts out of rope and some screwdrivers. I'm helpful....

*The word 'turquoise' look so odd... i keep thinking it is spelled incorrectly...

Spring! No, wait. Summer?

Time has FLOWN by.... this is the first weekend I've had home in the past month and have been able to get so much done. The kitties, after 4 months in seclusion, are all better and went to the vet today to get lion haircuts... Mingus is fine with it (she was sedated and I think still a bit, high. Monk, however, was not. He is a bit shaken up)

Our backyard is almost done. Summer is so here and I'm so excited to relax tomorrow after working around the house all day today. I've been on a 'No Shopping' budget this summer, which has lent to a lot of creative shopping in my own closet. However... Erik is away at a bachelor party this weekend.... I'm sure he's doing far worse things that I would be doing by ordering something online... mwaa haa haa.....

Bridesmaid Dress!!

This summer is a HUGE wedding summer for me. I have 5... including one in Boston this weekend. Very excited! Erik and I are gearing up for our redeye tonight...arriving in Boston at 5am tomorrow. What does one do at 5 am?? Last night was a perfect girls night of wedding planning for my friend Erica. She is getting married in Sonoma in September. We did a lot of organizing and maybe even picked the bridesmaid dresses... this one from Anthropologie . I love love love it and would wear it oh so often... squeals, squeals, squeals.... Besides that I have had tons to do at work, a constantly broken down car, an almost redone backyard (!!!) and a broken face. Sort of. I fell last Sunday and my face took to the sidewalk like gum to hair.... Grazed off quite a bit of my eye/cheek. Boo. It was so painful and also embarrassing wearing a giant bandaid on my face like a horse wearing blinders. Sweet. Thank God it's Friday and I'm about to have a lovely weekend with friends, family, food, and wicked shoes.
Have a lovely long weekend!!!
(I may have also grabbed this wonderful wonder of a frock.... on sale!)

Nuts for Nautical

We saw these sandals (they are actually called 'clogs' but I'm preferring to call them 'sandals'. thank you) in Lucky Magazine over the weekend and fell in love. Absolutely perfect to wear with a sundress while flying a kite, lounging on a sailboat, or, perhaps while having a picnic with blonde Swedish children. Available here. I ordered them and will report once they arrive if they are in fact are perfect-acle as they seem. This evening I received 3 new DVDs; An Education, Bright Star, and Coco Before Chanel. I'm bubbling over with excitement and can't wait to watch them.

Wanty

I've fallen in love with these shoes from here. I have the day off and was soooo excited all week for today that I knew something would happen to make it go wrong. I find that whenever I'm over the top looking forward to something, something icky will happen. Nothing major-an expensive vet visit, an engine light coming on (in the car that just came back from the mechanic a thousand dollars poorer), a giant cockroach that jumped out of a rag I found in the garage, and an angry hissing cat that won't get out of the litter box. These shoes will cheer me up. 3 day weekend begin!

You, and You, and You too...Or, 'I'm a Packrat'

Some lovely ones available from Zappos. I especially love the crystal ball Vivienne Westwood ones... My trip to the east coast was A.MAZ.ING. The bachelorette party on Cape Cod could not have been better. Wonderful friends, relaxing, massages, manicures, and lots and lots and lots of laughing. Which is always good for you. It was also so marvelous to be home in CT for a couple of days. I love being at home and sleep in my old bedroom. And of course as I spoke about before... shop my parents house... I mostly just take things that were mine before I moved out and forgot about. But there are always those new "Oh Sheila... is this a new painting...hmmm maybe it would look better in my house" conversations.... I have some photos from the trip but at the moment can't find my blasted cord thingy that goes from my camera to computer...Must find soon...It probably hidden under all of the 'new' things I brought home much to Erik's frustration. oops.

Happy Friday!!!

I'm in CT at my parents house ready ready to drive up to the Cape for the weekend. I love coming home. And what a journey I had.... I was stuck in Denver for 6 hours. At the airport I bought the new Ian McEwan book, Solar and am 3/4 done, I also managed to eat my weight in asian cracker snacks. So I suppose the trip wasn't too bad... This afternoon we're off to New Haven to see Sheila's new show at her gallery. These are some strands she'd been working on...and guess who gets to take some back to California...

I'm going to continue "shopping" through my parents house....

Fascinate Me!

My family and I have a few weddings coming up soon (and the bachelorette party of one is this weekend and I fly home tomorrow, Hurray for me!) So something that Sheila (my mum) is worrying about is what to put on her noggin. She and I have a few fascinators that we bought last time we were in London but there are great ones from Accessorize. If only Accessorize were here.. ah well... On to more bachelorette fun, I'm currently making mix cds... lovely lovely... will discuss more about after the surprise.... type of music one must listen to while sipping espresso in a full skirt.....love.
