Out and About

I may be a bit out of the loop this week. My freelancing job is a bit further away than my last one, so I've been getting home later. By the time I'm home, all I want to do is eat dinner and go to bed. However, there are other things around here that I need to be doing like just maintaining some sort of de-cluttered look. I'm also dealing with car troubles yet again. We're up extra early today to drop it back off to the mechanics. I swear, I reason I bought the darn thing was because I thought, Ok, fine I can deal with a 'mom car' because it will be reliable. Oh snap. Anyway, we're off to Yosemite this weekend, which should be marvelous. I'd better get myself organized before that. More tomorrow!

Friday

Happy Friday, a wonderful day. I'm starting to work on some sort of a portfolio for applying to grad school this winter for enrollment next fall. It's hard, frustrating, and hard. Although it is nice to get back in there and feel like there is a reason for it. We'll see....all a work in progress, all a work in progress....

Going Dotty

I don't know if it's an age thing... or maybe a size thing (wha?), but when I was a little girl, time went sooo slowly (except summers) and now I feel like a year has gone by and all I did was blink. Same with weeks; how on earth did Thursday get here... what was I doing? turning the other way? waiting in a line? It was only just sunday and now we are practically at the weekend again. I swear, never will the speed of time cease to amaze me...

New Looks

A little bit of house here... Here is a before and after of our living room. It still has a ways to go, but if definitely more livable for us. It's true that just a bit of paint can make an incredible difference, no?

Manly Toes

I love these menswear inspired looks and photos from the latest pieces from Anthropologie.

Happiness by Way of Fed-Ex

I was so excited to get from from work yesterday and see that my fabric from Heather Bailey had arrived.

I opened it up and was overjoyed to find that it was even more beautiful than online. This will become my next quilt. I'm hoping it will be big enough to put on our bed....we had a white quilt that got wet while in it's cardboard shipping box and now has grotesque yellow spots on it. Not too nice.

This one will make a marvelous change. As long as it isn't too 'girly' for Erik's taste....

*it does seem a bit blue in these photos... the images aren't doing it justice. promise... I need to either keep playing with my camera, or just use erik's...

Most Fabulous Weekend Ever

Our camping trip was so incredibly marvelous. We had a wonderful time. Unfortunately this week we are really tired, have a pile of camping things that need to be cleaned and put away, need to get groceries. I'm working this week which is great, but I was spoiled with my time off. Ah well. The weekend will once again soon be upon us...

Friday Fun!

Happy Friday! I'm terribly excited about our camping trip this weekend. Erik's brother is flying in from LA this morning, and then we're off to Sonoma. From there, we'll take an hour boat trip to the camping site. I don't really consider myself an 'outdoorsy' type of person, but I do enjoy hanging out with a bunch of friends, swimming and having fun. I just ignore the part with the bugs, and tents, not running water, and animals. Although a tent like this may change my mind....

Watermelon Greens and Pinks

There is a marvelous running trail right near our house that runs along a water reservoir. The water must have some sort of chemical in it, as it is the most brilliant turquoise blue. It looks just like the water in Bosphorus in Turkey. It makes running a lovely past time. Erik and I need to get back onto running as we have a race in about 4 weeks...

Heat Wave or Why I Miss Splendid Shoes

We seem to be going through some sort of a heat wave at the moment. I don't mind these as long as they last no more than a couple of days. I've been dragging my sweaty self all around town carrying out errands as this weekend we are going on a wondrous weekend of camping by a lake. A group of us are driving and then boating up on Friday and will spend the hot days floating in the lake, drinking beer, and eating fun camp friendly food. Thus, my time has been spent getting refills for our lantern, buying dry food, fishing lures, deflating all of the pool toys to bring with us. Because of all these dashing-around-chores, and the heat, my poor feet have only be able to wear flip flops... next week when I'm in the calm AC of an office, sitting at a desk drawing all day, my toes can be encased in any of my fun, fascinating, cold friendly, heels.

Ruffles and Puffles

Some treats for your feets from Anthropologie. We had a lovely weekend full of entertaining and pool time. And, remarkably, after leaving my car at the shop for 2 days, they finally discovered what was wrong with it. So hopefully, now there will be no more stalling...which would make me a happy camper. I'm off this week as well, so I'll be trying to get as much done before working again next week. There are public libraries to be found, and floors to be cleaned. fun. fun.

Friday Daze

The end of what I may call a somewhat horrendous week. I am, of course, overreacting; but it did seem that things were going awfully wrong for me. After the whole car debacle, I missed my train yesterday only to come home to a locked house. Normally this is fine, normal even, and since I'm an owner, I have a key. However, I had locked the screen door from the inside the day before and as I borrowed Erik's car, never exited through the front and left that screen locked. After borrowing a stepladder from a neighbor and breaking into my bedroom window, I was finally back in. I'm crossing my fingers that not too much will go wrong today...
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Watering Blues

After a tear filled day yesterday, caused by multiple stalls on major roads, my hero came in the form of a AAA tow truck man. I've washed my hands of that car (for now) and am off to the train station in Erik's fancy schmancy set of wheels. Luckily for him I'm only working today this week. I'm not sure he could spare his baby for too long...

Some Peeks Inside My Own Space

In our new house, I have my own studio, which I'm incredibly fond of. I've been spending every spare moment in here; more then anywhere else- even more than outside by the swimming pool, and in the San Jose heat, that's quite a feat.

Leafy Green and Buttery Browns.

I'm trying ever so much, so get in shape and be healthy this month. The weekend of the 4th was hopefully my last hurrah in over indulgence. We have a race to run in August which shall create a nice goal to work towards. And now I'm dashing off to buy fruit and vegetables.
Don't forget to go over to Lucky Toes (see right-->) to vote on your favorite shoes, or submit your own!

Happy Extended Weekend

I hope your weekend is filled with dazzling sparklers, overcooked hot dogs, and, if you're in Woods Hole, parades full of scientists dressed as DNA and mitochonria. That's where my heart will be.

Wednesday Blues and Pinks

Slowly making it through the boxes...slowly. However, am very delighted with my newly painted soporific bedroom wall....
