Boo
My aches and pains yesterday were not from cleaning... I think I have some sort of the flu. I feel horrible; I can't sleep, my muscles hurt, I'm hot and then cold. Wah. Although erik made soup for me last night, so I'm a bit of a lucky duck there.

Monday Blues Shoes
Oh Monday.... why can't we get along.... we had a great relaxing weekend where we got so much done. I love days like those. However, today I feel almost flu-y. Although it could be that my muscles are sore from intensely cleaning the bathrooms?? Anyway, I'm loving these shoes right now from 80%20. I like anything that is shiny and blue, so I can't tell if they are great, or a tad ugly....hmmm we'll see.....

A Lovely Friday to You
We've made it to the end of the week. That deserves a cheer. Or cheers, your choice. I've just finished the most interesting article in The New Yorker, called Eight Days. It broke down, almost hour for hour, the 8 days in which the heads were trying to deal with that mess in Wall Street last September. It was quite long, it took me 3 commutes to get through, but it held my attention and usually any piece of writing that includes the words liquidity, money-market funds, and TARP won't keep my eyes from wandering off of the paper. But this one was fabulous.
Have a great weekend! I will, cleaning and organizing my living room, above. A petered out 'yay' heard from me...

Old Elegance
There's nothing better than a pair of silver shoes to make you feel better after a tough day. A martini can help too...while wearing the shoes, of course.

Office Love
I love these vintage inspired heels from Office. Am getting excited to wear tights, boots, and fitted wool coats this winter. I just may have to wait a few more months. It was 100 degrees yesterday...

Just Peeping in
I'm off to LA this weekend and will hopefully be back with some fun ideas. We've recently had some issues with our internet at home which has been great fun as I'm rushing to catch my train at 6:20 in the morning - my only wish to check my email. Ah well, all will be mended soon...

Slow-No-Ma highlights
We had an absolutely wonderful long weekend in Sonoma, it's been rough to get back into the work week. Thankfully it's a short one. We are hosting a birthday party for our friend Meredith this Saturday, so I thought, I know, I'll show Erik that I do more around the house besides eating cheese and leaving the fridge door open. I went into the backyard and weeded. As I was tackling an especially well rooted one, I heard a shuffle in the trees above me. Oh, I thought, hmm a raccoon? No, zoe, don't be silly, this is not Connecticut in the woods, this is the suburbs just a stones throw away from Jack in the Box and AutoZone. So I thought, Awww cute cat, hmm didn't know our neighbors had a cat... mental note, ask what that cute feline is named. And on went the war with Zoe and the weeds. I heard more rustling of leaves and looked up to be met with a stare from a definite raccoon mask. Upon this I quickly galloped to the house door. Normally I love raccoons when I'm watching them out the window at night time, Yes, night time. Unless I'm wrong, raccoons don't hang out in broad daylight on fences. Rabies, I thought. Must be rabies. But I had left Erik's nice weed cutters out by the dangerous, possibly lethal animal... I had to go back and get them otherwise I would return to being the wife that just eats cheese and wastes precious refrigerator energy. And as Erik notes, we're so green now. So whether or not the animal was dangerous, or perhaps this was my little flutter of excitement that I try to bring into my life, that was my evening. And I swear that right now, at 6:20 am I can hear that striped tailed friend waiting to pounce on me by the car door....

Fall + Orla = Love
As I've said before, our summer lasts quite a while here, and when we do get fall, it's more of a rainy season then the autumn I'm used to on the east coast. However, that won't stop me from loving all fall styles and wearing them when I can. Orla Kiely never fails to impress me with her colors, prints, styles, and entire looks. She's got me giddy with a September crush...

Living Outdoors
I'm looking forward to this long weekend coming up. We're off to Sonoma again and hopefully planning a 'field day'. Complete with the balloon toss, 50 yard dash and the cracker chew. (no one else had heard of the cracker chew... perhaps it was an exclusive Guilford Ct event...) I'm also going to require everyone to wear tube socks and head bands. Oh it will be marvelously 80s.
