Stuff...
This is the dress that I bought from Anthropologie, the yellow one... On Sale! This is from a photo I had up earlier when I was wanting this dress....now it is mine... mwah hah haaah....
This is not the cardigan I got from Calypso, but had tried it on. In fact... mine is nothing like this one....it's really long and ocean blue.
I also got this kit from Sephora by Benefit. I feel so adult-y now with make up. I dont' wear it too much, just simple eyeliner, but I'm learning...I'm learning...
Photos to come...
Hair, There and Everywhere...
Ooops.... I dropped the ball again....I promise I will be better... I was away in NY and now am frantically trying to pack everything up for the drive to the cape tomorrow. Tonight I will upload some photos from my wonderful weekend in the city. I managed to buy a perfect yellow dress and wonderful cashmere cardigan from Calypso (all cashmere is on sale for $39!!!! go! run!) For now here are some hair ideas I'm thinking of...

Here! I'm Here!!!
Sorry for the delay in getting back here, it's been a busy few days, and I'm thinking will be a busy summer. But that doesn't mean there isn't time for shoes, and clothes...
Here are 3 of the pairs I had waiting for me here (there are another 4 pairs... I'll show later)
I was in NY for Saturday and had SUCH a great time. I've missed my friends so much and when I saw them again, it was as if I never left. I've also been reunited with my kittle kattles... but they're really only interested in food. They look like large furry alien animals....
And in New York, I saw a very exciting thing indeed....
Ok, now I'm off to run some errands... I love crossing things off of my To Do lists...

Out...
There's something about leaving a place that makes you realize how much you like it. Luckily for me, after my 2 months in the US, I'll be back here in Israel. I never thought, a year ago that I'd be excited to come back. I said my goodbyes to my co-workers at both jobs, and they actually seemed sad that I was going... perhaps I have friends!?!
But for now, I'm ramping up for my early flight tomorrow and 2 months on Cape Cod. As my friend Susie said, the perfect wardrobe will consist of Ralph Lauren and J. Crew. Lobsters, here I come...
All clothes from J.Crew.

Reunion
"Carmen: [voiceover] It would be easy to say that the pants changed everything that summer. But looking back now I feel like our lives changed because they had to, and that the real magic of the pants was in bearing witness to all of this and in somehow holding us together when it felt like nothing would ever be the same again.
[pause]
Carmen: Some things never would be
Lena: But we know now that no matter how far we traveled on our own separate paths...
Bridget: Somehow we would always find out way back to each other.
Tibby: And with that, we could get through anything.
Bridget: To us. Who we were, and who we are. And who we'll be.
Tibby: To the pants.
Lena: And the sisterhood.
Carmen: And this moment, and the rest of our lives. "

I can not wait....

Pupcakes!
Instead of a cake, Erik and I are having cupcakes. I ordered a stand online but apparently according to Sheila who opened the box, it's made of styrofoam (which we knew) and really looks like it (which we didn't). So we will have to be creative with our decorating and covering up. These are some nice ideas from The Knot. I've been spending an awful lot of time there recently...
Roaring...
I love these 1920's inspired dresses from Whistles. They would go perfectly with this 'Honeymoon Bead Clutch from Accessorize.
Erik and I aren't going on a honeymoon (although don't think that would stop me from buying this bag...) right after our wedding. A week after, we are flying to California and renting an Rv to drive around Sonoma. But for us, living here in Israel, a block from the Mediterranean Sea, is pretty honeymoon-esque. And being so close to other places like Greece, Cyprus, etc, we'll be making little trips next year. So it will be like a year long honeymoon. Nice. Right now however, I'm not feeling too nice, Erik was sick over the weekend and now I've caught his cold...not a great thing to catch 3 days before catching a plane...

What We Bought...
Here are a few things we picked up in Turkey. They are my funny slippers...and I swear... sometimes I catch Erik wearing them and dancing a jig around the apartment.
This is part of a 6 piece tea set, with our rocks from the sea of Maramara.
And these are some poof things that we now have to buy stuffing for, so that we can actually sit on them, and not just look at them...
Happy Sunday!

Pretty Flowers Everywhere. Or, 500!!
I just realized this is my 500th post! That deserves some champagne or at least a whole chocolate cake... Ok, back to what I meant to talk about, I haven't done many wedding-y posts lately, and feel that with time moving faster, there will probably be more. Also, they are just plain pretty. Here are some ideas for centerpieces from The Knot. We will (I say we, but I don't think the centerpieces are really on Erik's mind...) have a few little containers with hydrangeas and other wild Cape Cod flowers.
And while I'm not sure I would do this idea, I think it's pretty cool. But then you're left with a bunch of goldfish...

Reds and Blues...
Some fun combinations with a 4th of July twist. All shoes from here and all dresses from here.
Loving the blue and red... The dress above for a walk in the park...
Below, I'm not sure I'd like this dress in real life, I like the idea of it...Maybe it's too short or bubble-y? I don't know... but I'm not giving up on it yet...
Perfect for a stroll on alond the boardwalk...
A poolside bbq party...
The Island...
Here are a few more photos of our 'Most Fabulous Trip Ever'.
It did rain for a couple of days, but we had one perfect afternoon before the weather FORCED us to sit on the covered deck drinking gin and tonics while watching the rain.... it was really tough...
Now I'm sitting staring into space completely stupified that it is in one week and one day that I fly to the states... has time all of a sudden started moving more quickly?? Or perhaps I've slowed down?

Turkey!!
We came back from Turkey yesterday afternoon. It was such a perfect trip. We had a really good time in Istanbul, and with our friends that we were staying with. Sightseeing, shopping (I got all of the table covers for the wedding!) and relaxing on an island... Here are a few photos... I think that my computer may be filled up... because I have a lot more photos on my camera than came up when I imported... So I (read, 'Erik') will fix that and then get up the photos from our friends island house segment of the trip. oh! and there will be photos of all of the lovely things that I bought.
A preview photo of the island house....as you can see, it was paradise...

One Whole Year!
That's right, one whole year ago, June 5th, 2007, Erik and I landed here in Israel. I can't believe it's been that long! Well, we're half way through the assignment, so one more year lies ahead... Erik and I are off to relax in Turkey, so I will be back on Monday with (hopefully) great photos and (even more hopefully) amazing finds from the bazaar. See you!!
One Pair of Shoes!?!
That was what I was shrieking this afternoon... I decided to start packing for our trip to Turkey tomorrow. Afterwards, I started trying on all of my lovely dresses in hopes of finding some matches for the summer events. Wow.... do I have a lot of clothes...perhaps too much? I can now hear yelps of happiness coming from Sheila, half way across the world. In my closet I found something to wear for everything...and get this...all of the dresses go with one pair of shoes. One Pair!! Me! And I'm all about the shoes!! ('but you have 10 bloody pairs you ordered online waiting for you here in Connecticut' -I can hear Sheila muttering under her breath..) Light packing! They are a pair of Nine West pumps I bought about 5 years ago. They are sorta-but-not-really like these above. A little more pointy, a bit more 80s and feel like I'm wearing slippers. So. Comfortable. So while I'm sure I'll look at Anthropologie while I'm home, and perhaps even help them take some sales items off of their hands, this girl is not getting any more clothes.
*If I change my mind down the road, it's not my fault there is probably some great reason behind the purchase...like a sale, or stress, or a triple dog dare.

So Many Dresses...So Little Time...
When I'm home, I just may pop into Anthropologie to see these dresses. With all of these events coming up in the next 2 monthes...Bridal showers (mine and a friends) Bachelorette parties (mine and a friends) rehearsal dinners (mine and a friends) and post wedding brunches (yes, mine and a friends), why, a girl has to look top notch. As you may have guessed one of my great friends (and a bridesmaid of mine) will be getting married the week after me in the same town (and I a bridesmaid for her), so it will be a very fun wedding-y summer. All the more reason to wear fun summer dresses. And these dresses would look fabulous with these heels....

Maskit: A Local Fabric
Maskit was an enterprise started in the early 50's (my history may be off, I can't find much about it, only this great book I got at the Eretz Museum, Maskit A Local Fabric). The driving force behind this idea was Ruth Dayan. She wanted to start an income for newcomers to Israel who had been uprooted from their normal lives. The immigrants would use their skills whether it was in embroidery, jewelry making, weaving...etc and create orginals designs and styles that would then become an Israeli style. The book I have is so interesting. At the archive there are a lot of Maskit pieces, and today..... I met one of the first and main designers! She came in to drop off some pieces. Above is one of the pieces that was used in high fashion from 1962. She designed the woven fabric (which is actually leather and wool) for this "Dior Cloth" piece. Love!!

Weekend of Sun
After a long bike ride, Erik and I spent the day at the beach. I think that everyone else in the area had the same plan... it was the most crowded I've seen it yet this season. So that made for good people watching. Here is one of the dresses I bought last week. It looks a bit red here, but it's bright orange.
I got the same also in black (come on... it was buy one, get the second half off...) and they are perfect for summer. Today I spent about an hour on the phone with British Airways to change my ticket home. I was supposed to stay a few days in Amsterdam, but now am flying straight to JFK...ah.... just saying the airport name gets me excited.... June 19th!!! So soon!! But now I've got to do some research on Turkey. Erik and I are flying there this coming weekend for a quick vacation during a holiday weekend. Fun!
