Glitz and Glamour
I always love the time between Christmas and New Years. You've had one fabulous holiday and can now prepare for yet another even more fabulous one. We had a great Christmas here in the Todd Pod, with all of Erik's family visiting from L.A. and South Carolina. Now it is just the two of us once again and we are getting ready for a New Year bash in the city tomorrow. If I had the time to shop, I'd like to wear this dress:
With these shoes:
and this bag:
I'm not one for New Years resolutions, however, one will be to post more often. I promise. I'm already off to a huge changing start...I've chopped off my hair and dyed it dark brown. Quite a change I tell you....quite a change...

Happy Holidays!!!
Phew... where have I been??? Busy at work, that's where. We've had a deadline and we are just wrapping up now. I've been so busy that for all I know, it could be summer, not the winter holidays...ah well. This will be the first Christmas that I'm not going to Connecticut to see my family. I'm sad... These shoes would make me feel better... available from Zappos.

A day in the Office
I love these shoes from Office. Very 1950s office wear. They would be perfect paired with an old leather suitcase, bright red lipstick and perhaps a long journey on a train...
These are also absolutely lovely....

Singing in The Rain
Instead of blustery snow storms, we have a winter of rain storms. And more often than not, in San Francisco, they can tend to be the sort that is so windy that either your umbrella turns instead out, or the rain somehow manages to almost defeat gravity and come up under the rain shield. Delightful. Because of this, in no way can one ever look chic while battling the elements. Unlike these lovely ladies from vintage Vogue magazines. Sigh....

Keeping up
I've been trying to get back into the swing of working full time, which in turn, has caused me to neglect this space here. However, I will promise to keep up in better form. There are so many fun winter looks coming out now, that it would be an awful shame to let them go unmentioned here.... One must always have the perfect costume while sipping mulled wine by the fire...

Update! or, Reunited and it Feels so Good
Yes... the car is back!!!! I got a strange phone call this morning from a man who said that he thought my car was outside his house and that people were taking stuff out of it (my cell number was in the glove box on maintenance records) we quickly drove over there while calling the police and there was my lemon! Apparently because this guy lives near the highway, he said a lot of times people abandon (most likely stolen) cars in front of his house. He had seen some guy pull up and take my spare tire out of the trunk and drive off. So the man took down the license number, and went through my glove box to see if he could find any information about who's car it was. Long story short, we have the car back with only a missing stereo, ipod, and spare tire. They may have switched out my battery too. But Hurray!!! My car is safely home!!!!!

Gone
I've had a bit of a transportation troubled week. My car was stolen on Wednesday from the parking lot at the train station in San Jose. I'm so so so upset, and I think still a bit unbelieving. Why my car? So I am now without a car. Luckily a co-worker of Erik's has offered to lend us their car for a week. But then I'm not sure what to do. The police didn't seem to think we'd have much luck in finding in, or at least finding it in one piece. Piddles indeed. And then, as if some icing on the cake, as I was about to take the train home from work in San Francisco, they had stopped all trains indefinitely because of a fatality. I was stranded in the city, but luckily had some friends nearby with wine and food waiting for me. I'm glad it's the weekend. Very glad.

Wednesday, Hello
Perhaps I should have been more grateful for all of those years that I never caught a cold or flu, because it's all crashing down on my Fall of 2009. I'm back again with a cold. But this time, I will take even better care of myself. Perhaps no coffee today and mandatory glasses of water every 15 minutes? At least that will get me up out of my desk for some exercise. I love this hair piece by Ban.do. It would have gone perfectly with my wedding dress. But! It will go perfectly with almost anything else that I own.., and may help get rid of this cold...

Some Glitz and Glamour to sweep us into November
I love love love small handbags, my closet is spilling over with them. Ironically, however, my daily bag could hold an elephant and his immediate family. This could be why I can never find anything in it, and why my back often hurts. One would think it should be giving me arms of steel but alas, no. This is why I'm crushing on these lovely gems of a clutch from Accessorize. Fit exactly what you need, look dainty while doing it, and you won't even have to break a sweat. Lovely.

Best Costume for the Day
Happy Halloween! So sorry this has been a tumble weed infested place lately...we've been a bit busy. But all should go back to normal now. And let's start with these amazing ensembles from Anthropologie. Lovely.

Back at Oxford
I adore these Oxford looks from Anthropologie. A masculine idea made pretty with feminine colors and touches. I'm especially loving the saddle inspired ones. There are instructions on how to create your own here, at BlueBird Vintage, via Ms Spinach.

Flea Market Fun
On Saturday, Erik and I went to the San Jose Flea Market. It was more of a fun experience than a treasure finding adventure. We did manage to find some old old tools to put on our wall and consume lots of boiled peanuts, fries, light beer and fruit. All in all, an incredibly interesting day.

Happy Friday!
This weekend, my plan is to get over this cold. I'm wondering if I don't have bronchitis? Fun! I made these cupcakes for erik to bring to work this morning. I was so busy putting goldfish on blue icing that I barely had time to get any of my work done. Why does that happen?? Have a wonderful weekend! If you're on the east coast, stay warm, and if you're here on the west, I'll see you outside in the sun!

Patterns in the Neighborhood
We went for a walk this evening for some fresh air and glimpses of fall. Lovely patterns created by layers upon layers and color over color. Delightful.
After the Rain
Today was a nice change after the hurricane like weather yesterday...a nice calm day...bright green after the rain...red and orange leaves strewn about the pavements...sun peaking out after a restful day off.

Rainy Days
These Hunter wellies, available here would be perfect for today. We are in the middle of an incredible rain storm which is unusual for this time of year. I've been sick (again) which has been horrible. I woke up early this morning to make some tea and see the rain outside only to be met with the terrible sight of our outside table and umbrella knocked over. The table was glass. And that shattered glass is all over our patio by the pool. All of the effort we made to only have plastic glasses outside and now we have a lot more glass than that. I rushed out armed with my wellies, raincoat, garbage bag, and broom- however my effort was pointless. Until the rain is gone and the glass dries, it's too difficult to pick up. Plus, maybe by then, Erik will be home from his business trip and I will have a helper. For now, though, I'm going to climb back under my duvet with my NyQuil and my ginger tea. Good night.

I Think it's Here!
Cold mornings, check. Tree out front turning orange, check. Crisp evenings with the smell of burning wood, check. I think we've come upon Autumn here! I'm sad that we no longer have the 90 degree weather (although who knows, stranger, much stranger, things have happened), I'm welcoming the change in weather with open arms and mugs of hot apple cider. Yesterday I bought pumpkins and mums for outside. I can already tell what kind of neighborhood this is when it comes to holidays; half of the houses already have fake cobwebs, plastic tombstones, and white ghosts hanging from their trees. Oh what wonders will Christmas bring, I can not wait. Today my friend Cecelia is coming over (I'm off work for the next week, lucky me!) and I think we may go see the Richard Avedon at the SFMOMA. Maybe I can convince her to drink hot apple cider with me while wearing mittens. Although perhaps I'm being a bit premature in my excitement. It's going to be 75 today... I would settle for cold cider and a dish washing gloves.
Autumn Lovelies
Danish company, Noa Noa, has some beautiful new fall looks. I love the wallpaper in the background of the photos, the rich colors, and the 1920s inspired hairstyles.

Type Away
Oh how I would love love love to have one of these... I love typewriters. Some high heeled mary janes, a tweed pencil skirt with fitted jacket, and bright bright red lipstick would all go perfectly with the typing machine... I finally got over my flu, it was absolutely horrible. Luckily, I started to feel better, as Erik and I were driving to Las Vegas. We had a wonderful weekend there, photos to come soon.
Typewriter from here.
